Broadstairs is the nicer of the two, although Ramsgate is pleasant. Just skip Margate.. But if you do stay in Broadstairs and have the time visit Ramsgate. It has an attractive harbour with a lovely little seamans' church tucked into the cliffs.
Ramsgate – a town that has so much to make it a great place to live. Beautiful beaches, pretty harbour, nice architecture. It's also a dumping ground for social misfits from London, they hang around the town centre smoking weed and drinking, shop doorways with sleeping bags and beggars. It's not a happy town.
Went today. Beach was heaving, but it is a decent enough seaside town. Nowhere near as bad as Margate or Ramsgate. I live in Broadstairs and it is a lovely safe town with great local people and a real community.
As such, prices have been rising steeply, particularly in locations like Margate and Whitstable. However, if you're keen to capitalise on the great property investment opportunities of the Kentish coast (without spending a fortune), we recommend you start looking in Ramsgate.
There are many nice areas to live in Thanet but as a rule your best choice of area to live is Broadstairs. Anywhere in Broadstairs. Also StPeters, Kingsgate, Palm Bay and Dumpton (Park Drive).

The seaside town of Margate, on the Southeast coast, has to be one of the most up and coming areas in the country right now. The stunning beachfront Townhouses are being restored from grubby bedsits into hip and cool family residences.

Historians (and police) should note that the Royal Victoria Pavilion's 1,500-customer capacity makes it the biggest Wetherspoons ever to draw beery breath. It has caused such a stir in Ramsgate, a seen-better-days east Kent harbour town, that when opening day arrived the place was packed by midday.
2. Re: Is Margate still worth visiting? Margate Beach is still as lovely as ever, and with the gradual regeneration of the whole town, it is an outstanding asset. The old town has been really spruced up, as more small independant shops and cafe's have started moving in.
