Dust — Dust is made up of all kinds of gross things: dead skin, pollen, pet hair and dander, insects, insect droppings, and dirt. And that's just the start. Not only does dust make your room look and feel dirty, it also affects the quality of your air and can cause a musty smell.

Baking soda is very effective at absorbing odors from the air as well as from surfaces. Put baking soda in your trash can to eliminate orders, and sprinkle it on any surface an odor emits.
Electrical shielding, wires, and other plastic components emit a “fish” or “urine” smell when exposed to high heat. If you smell something fishy, go around your home and look for outlets and other electrical equipment that looks burnt or melting.
Something in your room is the source of the smell (dirty laundry, rotten food, etc). Consider getting an Air Purifier, which will churn the air in your room and filter it a bit. Make sure you stay on top of cleaning/replacing the filter in the unit. If the smell is a musty/humid smell, consider a Dehumidifier.

10. Use an odor absorber. Last but certainly not least, use a natural odor absorber like baking soda to trap any lingering odors in your room. Since odor absorbers are soaking up the air particles that cause bad smells, you will need to replace them often.
Place a bowl of white vinegar in each room of your house and let it sit overnight. The vinegar will absorb pretty much any odor – everything from cigarette smoke to pet odors. Don't worry about the vinegar smell that may remain, it will dissipate quickly once the vinegar is removed.
