Select Start, and then select Control Panel. Select Programs. Under Programs and Features, select Uninstall a program. In the list of currently installed programs, right-click OneDrive for Business, and then select Uninstall.
Sign in to OneDrive
- Go to onedrive.com, and select Sign in at the top of the page.
- Enter your Microsoft account (Xbox, Skype, Outlook.com email address) and select Next.
- Type your password and select Sign In.
If you want to force OneDrive to manually start the synchronization of your files without waiting for it to trigger this process automatically, click or tap on its icon from the taskbar notifications area, and then press the Sync link. You can also force a sync from inside the OneDrive app.
Choose which OneDrive folders to sync to your computer
- Select the white or blue OneDrive cloud icon in the Windows taskbar notification area.
- Select More > Settings.
- Select the Account tab, and select Choose folders.
- In the Sync your OneDrive files to this PC dialog box, uncheck any folders you don't want to sync to your computer and select OK.

Deep within the OS is a backup copy of the OneDriver installer. To find it, go to File Explorer > This PC and open the system drive where Windows 10 is installed (usually C:). Open the Windows folder and then open the WinSxS folder. In the search box, type onedrive then wait until the OneDriveSetup setup file appears.
It's getting in sync. The version on your PC is out of sync. To find out why, go to the right side of the taskbar, select the Show hidden icons arrow, press and hold (or right-click) OneDrive , and then select View sync problems. For more tips, see Fix OneDrive sync problems.
In your web browser, go to OneDrive.com. Select the folder where you saved your document, and then click the file name. The document opens in the appropriate Office for the web program.

This is because the Desktop, Documents, and Pictures folders exist both under This PC and OneDrive, which might make them easy to mix up. When you stop protecting a folder, existing files stay in OneDrive and new files save to your PC.
Click on the File menu. Click on Options. Click on Save. Under the "Save documents" section, check the AutoSave OneDrive and SharePoint Online files by default on Word option.
The problem basically occurs because of the Windows upgrade and drive name. Since the SkyDrive and OneDrive names are different, your system treats them differently and hence the 2 separate folders. This also is the reason for different data because some apps might still be set to store data in the older folder.
Delete from your hard drive but not your OneDrive
You'll still see the file in the OneDrive folder on your computer, but it will take up zero hard drive space.Starting to use Microsoft OneDrive does not cost a thing: it is free, as long as you make do with the default 5 GB of free storage space it offers. OneDrive excels in a lot of areas, including Office support
OneDrive has traditionally lagged behind the cloud services offered by Dropbox, Google and Apple, but Microsoft has caught up quickly. OneDrive is mostly a big success now, especially if you spend a lot of time using Windows or the various Office applications.Sign in to OneDrive.com to see files and folders shared with you.
- In the navigation pane, under OneDrive, click Shared. Files or folders shared with you appear under the names of the people who shared them.
- Click the file or folder to open it, just as you would any other item in OneDrive.
OneDrive is the Microsoft cloud storage, so it of course syncs with Microsoft 365 products like Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Dropbox is integrated with Microsoft 365, so users of the Microsoft suite can benefit from the convenience of syncing their Dropbox files with programs they already use.
A quick fix may be to just reinstall the OneDrive app by dragging the app in the Applications folder (Finder / Applications) to the trash and then reinstalling the app via the App Store. If this does not work we advise the following steps: Start OneDrive and re-enter your login credentials.
And like all files in OneDrive, the contents of your Personal Vault are encrypted at-rest in the Microsoft cloud and in-transit to your device. For further protection on mobile devices, we recommend that you enable encryption on your iOS or Android device.
You will no longer get extra space if you allow the OneDrive apps to automatically backup photos on your phone. Finally, anyone with a Microsoft account will only get 5GB of free storage, instead of 15GB.
