The name comes from the French "les Diables Bleus" or "the Blue Devils," which was the nickname given during World War I to the Chasseurs Alpins, the French Alpine light infantry battalion. Duke joined the Southern Conference in 1929, and left in 1953 to become a founder of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
All 15 ACC teams participated in the tournament, seeded by their record within the conference, with a tiebreaker system to seed teams with identical conference records.
It was the 15th annual ACC Championship Game, played to determine the 2019 champion of the Atlantic Coast Conference football season. The game was held at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Clemson Tigers defeated the Virginia Cavaliers, 62–17.

The current champions are the Clemson Tigers of the Atlantic Division. The Atlantic Division winners have gone on to win the ACC Championship Game for nine consecutive years as of 2019 and are 11–4 in the game overall. The Coastal teams won four consecutive years from 2007 to 2010 but have not won since.
The 1981 Tigers were undefeated and also won the National Championship that year. In 1991, Ken Hatfield led the Tigers to the league title. Head Coach Dabo Swinney and the Tigers won the ACC Championship in 2011.
Where is the ACC Championship Game held? In 2019, the game is going to be held in Charlotte at Bank of America Stadium, the home of the NFL's Carolina Panthers.
Clemson will win its fifth-straight ACC Championship Game and on the way to its fifth straight College Football Playoff with relative ease. Virginia will keep fighting with a few scores late, but the Tigers will put this away by halftime.
