For our purposes of examining post-national championship success, however, we look at the so-called modern national title teams, beginning in 1936. After all, only 19 college football teams have won as many as two titles total. No school has won three in a row, though several have come tantalizingly close.

This season's College Football Playoff Semifinals will return to its traditional New Year's Day date on ESPN. The Rose Bowl Game (5 p.m.) and Allstate Sugar Bowl (8:45 p.m.) will host this year's CFP Semifinals, while the New Year's Six's Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl (12:30 p.m., ESPN) is also scheduled for Jan.

The 2020 NCAA Division I FBS football season was the 151st season of college football games in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at its highest level of competition, the Football Bowl Subdivision. It began on September 3, 2020.
There were 35 bowl games including the college football playoffs scheduled for the 2020-21 NCAA football season. Bowl season was due to begin with the Tropical Smoothie Café Frisco Bowl on December 19 and conclude with the College Football Playoff National Championship game on January 11.
