Today, Uniroyal still uses the Tiger Paw brand name in its tire line. In 1990, Uniroyal was acquired by French tire maker Michelin and ceased to exist as a separate business. Today around 1,000 workers in the U.S. remain employed by Michelin to make its Uniroyal brand products.

But Cooper does more than just manufacture its tires in America: they research, test and design them here too. Cooper Tires manufactures its tires in three different states, supporting local economies. They have production facilities in Findlay, Ohio; Texarkana, Arkansas; and Tulepo, Mississippi.

It all comes down to engineering and materials. Michelin, Goodyear, Yokohama and Continental “they're all there building tires in China” Mielko said, adding that Pirelli's biggest factory is located there. He also noted that they have smaller engineering teams and don't spend nearly as much on marketing.
Both are good budget performance tires but the uniroyals will wear faster. The Hankooks arent very good when wet, but the uniroyals are excellent as the name suggests.

It is the largest tyre manufacturer in the world before Bridgestone and larger than both Goodyear and Continental. In addition to the Michelin brand, it also owns the Kléber tyres company, Uniroyal-Goodrich Tire Company, SASCAR, Bookatable and Camso brands.
Continental Tire, a subsidiary of a German company, makes tires in five states: Michigan, Georgia, North Carolina, Texas and Illinois. General Tires are now made by Continental. Yokohama, another Japanese multinational, manufactures tires in Virginia.
Michelin began publishing its “Red Guide” in 1900, when both cars and food tourism were novel luxuries. Its creators hoped that a guidebook offering information about hotels, restaurants, and roadways would lead people to drive more—and buy more Michelin tires.
