Sawyer Fredericks was the youngest contestant to ever take home the grand prize on The Voice. The 16-year-old singer is a folk artist currently building a reputation in the community. After signing a record deal with Republic Records, immediately after winning the show, his career saw quite a boost.

Winners of The Voice get $100,000 and a record deal with either Republic Records or Big Machine (both part of NBCUniversal). However, sometimes contestants who make for compelling television aren't always the same as musical artists who can sell records.

In 15 seasons, The Voice has had four African-American winners, including only one female. These were Javier Colon in Season 1, Jermaine Paul in Season 2, Tessanne Chin in Season 5, and Chris Blue in Season 12. So there have only been two African-Americans to win the show in the past 13 seasons.

Unlike American Idol and AGT, The Voice encourages singers not to do originals during the audition process. Some examples of this on the most recent season of Idol were Catie Turner, Michelle Susette, and winner Maddie Poppe, who all sang original songs they personally wrote.
