BBC One murder-mystery drama Shetland is to return for two more series, it has been announced. Based on the novels of Ann Cleeves, series six and seven will be filmed in 2020 and 2021, for six hour-long episodes in each.

Jimmy Perez married Duncan's first wife Fran who then died. Duncan's second marriage is now failing. The woman Perez kissed is Alice Brooks who has come to Shetland with her husband Chris to open a refuge.

The birth daughter of Duncan and step daughter of Jimmy, Cassie has just been brutally dumped and returns to Shetland to recuperate.In Friday's episode of the Scottish crime drama Shetland (BBC1) young detective Alison “Tosh” McIntosh was raped. But Tosh's attack, or rather its effects and consequences, were dealt with brilliantly by writer Gaby Chiappe (who took advice from rape crisis workers).

Thomas had confessed to strangling Lizzie Kilmuir in a case that rocked the police force and all the villagers around for years to come.
Steven Robertson (born 1 January 1977) is a Scottish actor who stars as Detective Sandy Wilson in the BBC One adaptation of Ann Cleeves's Shetland, filmed near where Robertson was born and brought up.
