In Season 5, Alison's killer is revealed to also be Big A. In "A is for Answers", the person who tried to kill Alison and the person who buried her are two different people. Jessica DiLaurentis saw who hit Alison with a rock, and subsequently buried her daughter alive, believing she was dead.
Why was Meredith looking for Ali's diary pages desperately? Fandom. The diary pages were about Ali and Aria finding out about Byron's affair with Meredith. She probably didn't want any of the info the girls had on her to get out so she wanted to destroy the pages.

Originally, when Spencer and Emily were sneaking around in Jason's shed, they found a lot of close up pictures of Aria. The two assumed that Jason had taken the pictures, and warned Aria. Aria was 16 so that's a six year age difference. Ella had even commented that he was only a few years older than Aria - I don't remember which episode or why she made the comment. When Aria "Accidentally" Killed ShanaLest you've forgotten, Aria Montgomery is a stone-cold murderer. Like, she is a legit killer just wandering around rural Pennsylvania. Aria accidentally bludgeoned Shana to her death in New York City after mistakenly thinking she was A, and it's just like, Aria.
In the end, Pretty Little Liars went out with a massive bang. Confirming a popular fan theory that gained traction during the Freeform drama's final season, it was revealed in the series finale that Spencer Hastings indeed has an evil, psychopathic British twin named Alex Drake.
