If your Lenovo laptop has two slots for the hard drives, you can directly install the new SSD into the slot. Then, restart the computer and press F2/F10 all the time to enter boot menu; set the laptop to boot from the new laptop. As the SSD has the cloned Windows system, you can do everything freely now.
SSDs in general are more reliable than HDDs, which again is a function of having no moving parts. SSDs commonly use less power and result in longer battery life because data access is much faster and the device is idle more often. Free up space with Disk Cleanup
- In the search box on the taskbar, type disk cleanup, then select itfrom the results.

If the drive still isn't working, unplug it and try a different USB port. It's possible the port in question is failing, or just being finicky with your specific drive. How to confirm whether the hard drive is spinning up or not?
- Boot the computer and try to catch some noise.
- Power off the system.
- Disconnect the power cord from the system.

- Reconnect the power cord to the system itself.
The BIOS will not detect a hard disk if the data cable is damaged or the connection is incorrect. Serial ATA cables, in particular, can sometimes fall out of their connection. Be sure to check your SATA cables are tightly connected to the SATA port connection.
