By the way, prints on paper (archival) are far less expensive than prints on canvas, so check the prices of both paper and canvas prints. The professional image capture would cost about $150. Each print runs about $50, and if I pay the printer to stretch that canvas over bars, that's an additional $30/per print.
Generally matte is the best choice if your print will be hanging in glass as there is no glare. However, it may make some images look grainy and colours may not appear as bright.
A good start is to check out the standard frames that are offered in local stores and online; Another way you could decide on best sizes is by checking out your competition and look at the sizes that they offer. This is what I settled on for the majority of my prints : 5×7 inches. 8×10 inches.
Prints must always be signed in pencil. The artist name and date are to be signed on the bottom right side of a print just below the printed image. Never on the image! The title of the print is to be written in the center of the image just below the printed image.
Like all artworks, fine art prints are more valuable when they are hand-signed by the artist. (It doesn't matter much if the signature is located on the front of the print, the back of the print, or on its accompanying Certificate of Authenticity.)
Giclee is the first and only fine art print to be made with an ink jet printer. Pronounced, zhee'clay, the word comes from the French, meaning to spray, which is exactly what an ink jet printer does. The quality of a giclee print is far superior to all other forms of printing.
a device that can print on a large range of materials, including cotton rag, high-gloss photo paper, satin paper, matte paper, canvas, film, vinyl, textile, etc.
Coated paper -- which comes in matte, semi-matte, and glossy finishes -- is best for printing digital art. The coat on the paper prevents the ink from soaking too far in the paper and dulling your colors. A glossy finish will make text hard to read, so if you have any text in your digital art, avoid a glossy paper.
Artists in the business of printing their artwork usually have large format printers that accept thicker cardstock paper. This kind of printer will enable you to control the colors as well, and the output will be high-quality, high-end reproduction of your digital artwork.
However, many artists do run our papers through printers and are happy with the results. Sheets such as Watercolor and Bristol are fairly thick and printer models with a larger bend in the paper feed could pose an issue. Check your printer manual to see how thick of paper can be run through without jamming it.
Your printing it out without consent of the artist is a copyright violation. So, no, not legal. Contact the artist and ask for permission. So you can print them and put them on your wall, as long as you give proper attribution and don't sell it.
