Re: Does game progress get saved to origin? Sadly the Sims 4 does not have could save, you have to move the files to your new computer or sync them via onedrive. You can usually find your saves in here: C:UsersUsernameDocumentsElectronic ArtsThe Sims 4 to your Desktop and start the game.
Find your save files at Documents > Electronic Arts > Sims 4 > Saves. You will see a long list of files with names like Slot_000000012. save or Slot_000000012. save.
Windows
- Go to My Documents.
- Open the Electronic Arts folder.
- Find The Sims 4 folder.
- Right-click on it and choose Copy.
- Go to your Desktop.
- Right-click on a free space and choose Paste.
- Right-click on the copied folder and choose Rename.
- Change the name of the folder to something you'll remember, like Sims 4 Backup.
The Sims 4 does not use cloud saves. You have to copy back and forth, Origin does not save any progress.

After Windows 10 upgrade, certain files might be missing from your computer, however, in most cases they are just moved to a different folder. Users report that most of their missing files and folders can be found at This PC > Local Disk (C) > Users > User Name > Documents or This PC > Local Disk (C) > Users > Public.
To find downloads on your PC:
- Select File Explorer from the taskbar, or press the Windows logo key + E.
- Under Quick access, select Downloads.
Search File Explorer: Open File Explorer from the taskbar or right-click on the Start menu, and choose File Explorer, then select a location from the left pane to search or browse. For example, select This PC to look in all devices and drives on your computer, or select Documents to look only for files stored there.
To find your save files, visit Valve's View Steam Cloud page in your web browser and sign in with your Steam account. You'll see a list of games using your Steam Cloud storage. Locate the game in the list (hit Ctrl+F to use the browser's search)—and click “Show Files” to see all the files for a game.
Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods is the folder you need in order to install mods and cc. Sims/lots go inside the Tray folder. The process for downloading both CC and Mods is the same, so we will cover them both at once. They are installed in Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods.
As part of the celebrations, we are excited to announce that The Sims 4 is now available on Origin™ Game Time. Yes, that's right, you can now play The Sims 4, completely free*, thanks to our friends at Origin.
Sims can be downloaded from the Gallery in two places: Create A Sim or Live Mode. In Create A Sim, the Gallery button is in the upper right, next to the Save Household button (it can also be opened by hitting F4).
- Download and open the EA Origin PC app.
- Sign into your Origin account (or create a new one).
- After signing in, go to the “My Home” tab.
- Click on the “free Sims 4” promotion (remember: the offer only lasts until May 28th).
- Complete the on-screen instructions to begin downloading the game.
Go to download in your web browser. Installing Sims 4 on your PC requires you to also use a game-playing client called Origin. You'll need to download this app even if you bought the game on discs.
How to Install the App?
- Click the Download File button to download the file. The file name will have a file extension of .
- Locate the downloaded file on your computer using Windows Explorer.
- Launch Origin/OriginPro if it is not already open.
- Drag-and-drop the . OPX file from Windows Explorer onto the Origin interface.
