With the Halo franchise assigned to 343 Industries after Bungie's shift to Destiny, Halo Infinite will also be developed solely under the same roof. Halo Infinite is built on the new "Slipspace Engine," developed internally at the studio alongside the game.
Halo Infinite will be the last Halo game. Well in a statement a while back (don't have a link so you're just gonna have to trust me) 343i told us about their attempt to move away from numbered titles in the Halo series. Infinite won't be the last Halo game, but it may be the last traditional one.
Yet Halo is still the 'poster' for Microsoft. While Forza is the most popular Xbox game, Halo is by far the Xbox game. It is actually still in a very good state, just not as good as it used to be.

You can buy the first Halo Wars on Steam or the Microsoft Store, while Halo Wars 2 can only be bought from the latter. The Windows Vista version of Halo 2 can still be bought from Amazon, so if you can work out how to make it compatible with a modern PC then you can legally play a main-series Halo game on PC.
What's more, the Gears of War franchise is one of Microsoft's biggest and most popular exclusive franchises right now, and so it's even more unlikely that we'd ever see Gears 5 or any future titles in the series making their way to the PS4 or Sony hardware that comes further down the line. The Halo series expanses a total of eleven titles, spanning across three different game genres. The first, and biggest, group is the First Person Shooter title set. This group encompasses the main series of the game: Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 4, and Halo 5: Guardians.
The PlayStation 4 has a significantly high GPU power compared to the Xbox One which amounts to about 50% more. The PS4 uses 8GB of GDDR5 memory with a bandwidth of 176GB/sec as opposed to the Xbox One with its 8GB of DDR3 RAM. Better processing power results in seamless gameplay and better graphics.
However, when it comes to the premium versions of both consoles, Xbox has an edge. The Xbox One X, Xbox One S, PS4 Pro and standard PS4 all support HDR, though the list of HDR-enabled games varies by console. Winner: PS4. Games look stunning on both systems, but the stock PS4 offers better resolution for many titles.
Every Halo game is playable on the Xbox One. Now you can play Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo: ODST, and Halo 4 on the Xbox One. The only title missing from the backwards compatibility library is Halo 2, which was never actually released for the Xbox 360.
