Valvoline Synthetic Motor Oil 5W-30 1 Quart.
A good 0W-40 or 5W-40 is what you need. I personally use Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 in both my 1.8t and VR6 and have had great results.
Volkswagen recommends drivers to use approved oil that expressly complies with the VW oil quality standard for their vehicle's engine. Synthetic oils fulfill this requirement, but not all synthetic oils. Be sure that the one you're using expressly complies with the particular standards listed for your vehicle's engine.
In practice, this means that each oil is just as viscous at lower temperatures and will remain viscous at -30°C, however 5w40 oil outperforms 5w30 oils at higher temperatures, being effective up to temperatures of 50°C, as opposed to 30°C.
If your car is approved for VW 502 00, you can also fill in oil with release VW 504 00 without hesitation. Possible viscosity classes for VW 502 00 are SAE 0w30, SAE 5w30, SAE 10w30, SAE 0w40, SAE 5w40 and SAE 10w40. The VW standard 502 00 also applies to gasoline engines of the affiliates Audi, Skoda and Seat.
Mobil 1™ ESP 5W-30 is a fully synthetic low ash oil approved by Volkswagen for petrol cars requiring the VW 504 00 oil standard and approved for diesel cars requiring the VW 507 00 oil standard.

Oil WeightThe Volkswagen owners manual specifies that the Jetta TDI engines should use 5W30 during the cold winter months. This will help avoid engine warnings when it takes too long for the cylinder head to get oil pressure. A heavier weight such as 10W30 should be used during warmer months.
Higher labour- rates, long- range oil and a lot of work to get to those filters are the main reason for higher costs at VW. Very often, VW does additional work on their cars, to keep them at top- performance level ( sorry that's just company- policy), which comes on top of that oil change.
Quick-lube chains say 3,000 miles, auto manufacturers recommend 5,000 to 7,500 miles and synthetic oil companies, 10,000.
