Garmin watches do not sync with iOs--beware. I have made a comment earlier on my challenges syncing my 735x, but feel it is important to note that NO Garmin watches sync with iOs. So if you have a iPhone, beware.
To say that either is any accurate than another is largely based upon model and use case, but for connectivity and general-purpose functionality, the Apple watch is much smarter; the Garmin is better with GPS and more advanced metrics.
The Apple Watch will let you control your Apple TV. It'll also let you remotely access your iPhone's camera, and thanks to Siri and HomeKit integration, it can even control the lights, thermometer, blinds, fans, and other connected devices in your home.
It also seems brighter and sharper than the previous model and was easier to read in direct sunlight. The Apple Watch Series 3 (left) has thicker bezels with square corners. The Series 4 feels more comfortable when pressed tightly around the wrist. Its speaker is now larger and 50 percent louder, according to Apple.

What can it do? The Garmin Vivoactive is part smartwatch, part activity tracker and part GPS sport watch. It will vibrate to notify you of incoming calls, text messages, emails, and app and calendar alerts from your smartphone (which must be connected over Bluetooth).
The Vivoactive 3 isn't like the Apple Watch Series 3—you can't speak through the watch and take a phone call on the device, but you can accept an incoming call from the display and immediately begin talking through your smartphone.
Today Garmin announced the new Vivoactive 4 & 4S watches, within a pile of different color/material variants. The difference between the 4 & 4S is simply the size. The only difference being the extra live watch faces on Venu (and of course, it's a much prettier display that you pay for in battery life).
Features. The device has a feature that allows you to find your smartphone if you have misplaced it. The device has a speaker and microphone that allow you to answer calls made to your smartphone.

The Garmin Vivoactive 4 is a solid upgrade to the Vivoactive 3 and 3 Music, and will certainly please those in need of a midrange multisport watch. It's not as flashy as the new Garmin Venu, but that might be a good thing: It has a more readable display and longer battery life.
for everyone who use Android phone, there is way how to bring maps on Vivoactive 4 (no internet needed). It can be achieved by Locus Map outdoor navigation app with its extension Locus Map for Garmin.
Jam-packed with features, the Vivoactive 3 runs the gamut of being excellent for fitness tracking, running, and as a smartwatch. For running and outdoor activities, the Vivoactive 3 uses GPS. It also has smart enough motion sensors to calculate running cadence, even during treadmill runs.
Vivoactive 3 has a round face, always-on display and a slightly better battery life. Versa is square and has a more high-res screen.
The vivoactive 3, vivoactive 3 Music, and vivoactive 3 Music (Verizon) feature a port hole that allows the sensor to detect pressure changes.
You can read your texts on your Garmin Vivosmart HR, but you can't send them. The Garmin Vivosmart HR isn't a smartwatch like an Apple Watch or other Wear OS device. Unfortunately, once you receive these notifications, including those for text, you can't really do anything with them from your Vivosmart HR.
The Vivomove HR includes heart rate, step count and sleep tracking, and smart functions like notifications. It works on Android and iOS and has 50-meter water resistance and a weeklong-plus battery life.
Garmin is more well known for its fitness smartwatches that have more advanced features for more serious athletes. Fitbit has essentially cornered the low-end smartwatch and fitness tracker markets (at least in the US), while Garmin is far and away the leader in the GPS fitness watch space.
We won't delve into the accuracy debate here, but to ensure you're getting the most accurate sleep data possible from your Garmin, you need to: Wear your device at least two hours before bedtime and keep it on while you sleep. Make sure your device's heart rate monitor is on, and the device fits snugly but comfortably.
Some smart features, like the music playback control, I've found more useful. The Vivomove HR doesn't have any onboard storage so you won't be able to load on any songs, but you can control what's playing from your paired phone.
Like the Vivoactive 4, the Vivomove Style has a 5ATM water-resistance rating, meaning it can withstand pressures equivalent to a depth of 164 feet.
Accuracy. Walking around, the Garmin Vivomove HR reported acceptably accurate data for step counts. After a mile of walking, readings were in the range of 2,000 steps (which is not only the estimated average, but also about the average number I've recorded for myself using a manual click-counter).
Its pedigree is GPS multi-sport watches where the philosophy has always been function over form. The Luxe only comes in a 42mm size but with a choice of silver, gold and rose gold cases.

By leveraging the optical heart rate sensor on the device, we measure heart rate and Heart Rate Variability (the time measured between each heartbeat) which combined with the accelerometer allows us to determine when you fall asleep, when you wake up, and what level of sleep you are in.
The work provides evidence that a wearable device using only actigraphy and optical heart rate sensors can estimate sleep stages of users to nearly 70% accuracy with a good Cohen's kappa of 0.54 +/- . 12.
Although the “Garmin Swim 2” has been marketed as the top Garmin watch for swimming, many athletes actually prefer the newer Forerunner 935 for its versatility when it comes to dry land for running and multisport features.
The Vivoactive 3 was highly accurate at counting steps in our tests, only deviating from the true manual count by about 0.33%. However, the Vivoactive 3 does not calculate distance, hurting its slightly. The Vivoactive 3 is equipped with an accurate step counter.
While other Garmin models use physical buttons, the Vivoactive is equipped with a touchscreen.. So you can control the entire interface just using natural gestures rather than trying do everything with small, fiddly buttons.
While you are sleeping, the device automatically detects your sleep and monitors your movement during your normal sleep hours. You can set your normal sleep hours in the user settings on your Garmin Connect™ account.
