#16 - ~6.5 mm. #18 - ~6 mm.
A 1/0 hook is bigger than a size 1. They ascend in accordance to their increased size. Therefore, a 6/0 hook is larger than a 2/0, but a plain 6 is smaller than a 2.
The shank length of my Mustaad standard dry fly barbless hooks (94845) is as follows: #10 - ~10 mm. #12 - ~8.5 mm.
When chasing Bream with baits such as bread I use a size 6 Gamakatsu Octopus hook. This doesn't mean that the hooks you currently own are too big for Bream but try and hide it using the bait, for example I wouldn't use a bread bait on a 1/0 hook I would lean towards using a whole Prawn or a piece of Mullet.

For sizes, 1/0 to 3/0 seems to work fine for me, the fatter the worm the bigger the hook, but I keep those hooks in sizes down to a 6, because they can work great with other plastics for weightless applications.The Big Red Snapper Rig can catch more than snapper. Its smallest size sports a pair of 3/0 hooks, which can also target smaller fish like bream, flathead and trevally.
Place one or two split shot sinkers 2–3 inches (5.1–7.6 cm) above the hook. Press your line into the narrow groove running through the middle of the sinkers. When picking out your sinkers, use enough weight to bring the bait closer to the bottom, but not enough to weigh down your line.
5. 17-pound fluorocarbon for vibrating jigs, spinnerbaits and swim jigs. I will go with heavier line on these lures because they are always moving, usually at a good speed.
For instance a 4/0, ("four bar oh" or "four oh"), hook is one size up from a 3/0, which is one size up from a 2/0, etc. Hook sizes not followed by a zero, decrease in size as the number increases. For example a size 3 hook is smaller than a size 2 hook, which is smaller than a size 1 hook.
A "larger" fish might be 3.5 inches as opposed to 1.5 inches, but it turns out that the Gamakatsu "smallest" hook is pretty well suited to catching, and holding, the larger micros. It is very well suited for catching small sunfish.
A 'beak' hook is where the point of the hook curves up towards the shank, in front of the barb. Kirbed or Reversed hook points are points that curve away at an angle to the shank.
For smallmouth and largemouth bass fishing the most appropriate sizes will be sizes 4, 2, 1, 1/0, 2/0, 3/0, 4/0, 5/0 and 6/0. Of course, the size varies depending on the technique you're using and fish hooks that are smaller or larger than this range are sometimes used.

The offset worm hook is a great all around hook. It has the offset bend that holds the soft plastic up on the hook, but a drop of super glue will prevent it from sliding down the hook and getting in the way of a hookset.
