LifeProof, a San Diego maker of waterproof cases for iPhones, iPads and other mobile devices, said today it has been acquired by larger rival OtterBox for an undisclosed price. OtterBox, based in Fort Collins, Colo., filed a patent infringement lawsuit against LifeProof about 18 months ago.
LifeProof is a U.S. consumer electronics accessory company headquartered in San Diego, California and acquired in 2013 by OtterBox. The company designs, manufactures, and markets cases that protect smartphone and tablet functionality and condition from water, snow, dirt, and shock.

Our Story. Founded in 1998, we have grown to become a global innovator of premium protective products for smartphones and tablets. Our mission, 'We Grow to Give,' is executed through our popular OtterBox, LifeProof, Liviri and OtterCares brands.
Lifeproof offers protection to people who have an active lifestyle and love spending time outside. Otterbox, on the other hand, offers excellent protection against fall damage. It provides different styles, and you can choose what best fit your personality. Both brands provide exceptional protection to our phones.
The single most important piece of modern technology in my life, right there next to my phone, is my waterproof, dust-proof, shock-proof, and, yes, all-around LifeProof phone case. There are several waterproof iPhone cases like it, but this one is mine. Here's why it's well worth $90.
A: Your LifeProof case will be replaced upon approval of your initial Service Request, receipt of your LifeProof case and damaged device, and approval of the Service Request by our certified service provider.
If you receive a damaged LifeProof Product, notify the delivery company immediately. Do not discard any of the box, shipping label, packing material, or broken items. The delivery company must pick up the damaged goods and provide you with a claim number.
Get peace of mind before an accident by selecting one of LifeProof's durable, waterproof cases. Both the LifeProof NǕǕD and LifeProof FRĒ cases provide waterproof protection in up to 6.6 feet of water. They're both DirtProof and SnowProof, too, and can survive drops from up to 4 feet.
I haven't noticed a difference in picture quality. You just have to make sure the part of the case that covers the viewfinder is clean just like you would on the iphone without the case. The one thing I did notice that was different was that the screen wasn't as "easily responsive" as it would be without the case.
For a cover that protects against more than light scratches, you are good at Lifeproof. This manufacturer is known for its robust covers for Samsung and Apple. The Lifeproof Fre and Nuud covers are somewhat larger but offer the most protection; think of water resistance and fall protection.
Cheers! If you have a lifeproof case your screen should be protected from that. The main thing with tempered glass screen protectors is that if you drop your phone it take the energy from the fall and breaks so your phonea screen won't so its only really necessary if your using a light case.
The OtterBox Defender is the best case I have ever used. It is a little bulky compared to the phone itself but will protect it very well. You can get an otter box through a warranty for a little over $6 without having to actually provide any receipts. Or you can go through amazon and get it discounted, too.
While it's true that the Otterbox Defender provides the best drop protection, a new competitor has emerged: the Lifeproof Fre. The Lifeproof Fre is popular due to its cleaner design and promise of ultimate protection against water and snow.

No. The protective case actually is designed so that there is no need for a screen protector. The clip of the case can cover the screen when the phone is not in use and snaps on to the back casing when the phone is in use.

Screenless design provides flawless touch response. Port covers prevent dirt, dust and lint from clogging jacks and ports. Included holster functions as a swiveling belt clip and a hands-free kickstand. Pair with an OtterBox Amplify screen protector for total, 360-degree phone protection.
The Defender Pro and the Defender series are both great cases for your phone. But one does offer more protection than the other. Otterbox Defender Pro offers more protection but also weighs slightly more and adds more bulk to your phone. We know the Defender series for its protection as well as bulkiness and weight.
Overall, Spigen offers good-looking cases that use innovative built with some good materials to provide some solid protection. Otterbox cases are, however, simply durable without comparison. If you're prone to dropping your phone or are always climbing heights, Otterbox cases are undoubtedly the safest options.
Overall, both cases have the same protection from dust, dirt and snow but there's a difference between the Fre and the NEXT. The Fre has the screen cover on the case while NEXT doesn't, and keep in mind that the NEXT is not a waterproof case, but the Fre is waterproof up to 2 metres for 1 hour.
Completely submerge your iPhone in the sink of water for 30 minutes. Make sure your phone is somewhere safe where it will not get wet, and not IN the case. Take the case out of the water after 30 minutes. Dry off the OUTSIDE only of your case.
Waterproof cases are definitely worth it, but only if you're that kind of user with an active lifestyle and a big passion for beach sports or underwater photography. Just make sure the one you get is a significant update over your phone's IP certification.
The LifeProof Fre is the tougher case as it has a screen protector and the Nuud doesn't. Both the Fre and Nuud are waterproof and shockproof up to 6.6 ft but if you were to drop the LifeProof Nuud face first without the screen protector, your screen is going to break.
Yes, there is a slight occasional separation from the glass, but easily disappears by smoothing it once over your thigh, and even if you don't, the screen sensitivity is just fine.
