If the team is uncertain about the nature of the pitch or simply wants to play safe, they often bat first. Another advantage of batting first is that the batting team sets a target for the team batting second to chase. This can create pressure on the teams batsmen and cause problems for the team batting second.
The batsmen gauge and tap the cricket pitch due to following reasons: To tap some extra grass on pitch,so that it shall not create uneven bounce. To make the surface even or to remove any stone or any other particle from the pitch. To nullify the impact bowlers foot marks can cause, if ball is pitched there.
The truth is the batting order doesn't really matter. Managers don't like to put a power hitter in the #1 spot because he can't drive in RBI there. The #5 batter, whom managers usually like to have as a power hitter who can drive in runs, is most likely to lead off the second inning.
The first three batsmen (number 1, 2, 3) are known as the top order; the next four (numbers 4, 5, 6 and possibly 7) form the middle order, and the last four (numbers 8, 9, 10 and 11) are the lower order or tail. The specialist batting players of a team usually bat near the top of the order, so as to score more runs.
The batting order or line-up is the designated order in which the players for a given team will bat. Before the game, each manager provides the head umpire with a list of the players who will be starting the game and the order in which they will bat - the starting line-up, as written on a line-up card.
lower order batsman. RANK. ANSWER. Term for a lower-order batsman in cricket who bats higher up the order near the end of the day's play (13) NIGHT WATCHMAN.
Cricket is scored in runs. Two batsmen are on the field at the same time during play, one at each wicket. If the ball is in play and one of the batsmen is out of his ground, he is usually liable to being put out. A batsman is run out by having the wicket at his end broken while he is out of his ground.
When a batsman goes out to bat in cricket when his team has lost 1 wicket…then that batsman is coming 1 down for batting i.e. his position is 1 down. when another batsman comes out to bat when team has lost 2 wickets then that batsman is coming 2 down i.e. his batting position is 2 down.
All eleven players in a team are required to bat if the innings is completed (i.e., if the innings does not close early due to a declaration or other factor).
Not insecure about where I bat: Virat Kohli could bat at No. 4 to include both Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul.
