Change the column width to automatically fit the contents (AutoFit)
- Select the column or columns that you want to change.

can you have multiple column widths? No, you can't do that - all cells in a column have the same width. You can simulate different widths by merging some cells together from columns A and B (or more), but merged cells cause other problems with formulae and macros so they are best avoided.
To set column width with a specific measurement:

Adjusting Table Cell Height and Width

The column width is measured in characters, i.e. the default column width fits 8.43 characters. Not bold, italic, big or small characters: this measure is based on the default font used in the workbook (press CTRL+1 to open the Format Cells dialog then click the Font tab).
