Inside the world's most dangerous theme park where six died and punters were left bleeding with skin ripped off. WELCOME to New Jersey's Action Park, the country's most dangerous attraction, which took the lives of several visitors in the decades after it opened in 1978.
If you are wondering if anyone has ever died on a theme park ride, it's rare, but it has happened. In August 2016, a 3-year-old boy died after falling out of the Rollo Coaster, an old-style wooden roller coaster built in 1938 at Idlewild and Soak Zone near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
After another major incident occurred in 2009, it was announced that Son of Beast would be closed indefinitely. On July 27, 2012, following a thorough evaluation of the roller coaster, Kings Island announced that Son of Beast would be removed from the park to make room for future expansion.
More than 60 passengers were left hanging about 100 feet above the ground when a roller coaster stalled at Universal Studios Japan. A roller coaster on a Florida boardwalk derailed, causing two riders to fall about 34 feet to the ground, officials said. Six of 10 people rescued from the ride were taken to the hospital.
Kings Island will be open for a Season Pass Preview Weekend Saturday, May 8 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, May 9 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. All 2020 and 2021 Gold and Platinum Passholders are invited to attend the preview days. As a reminder, all 2020 Season Passes will be honored during the 2021 season.
Am I permitted to bring my own food and beverages into the park? No outside food, beverages or coolers are allowed to be brought into Kings Island or Soak City Water Park. Exceptions are made for Guests with special dietary needs to include food allergies and baby food and formula.
Kings Island, located about 20 miles from Cincinnati, opened in 1972. In 1982, a person died after jumping a guard rail and trying to ride on top of the elevator at the park's replica of the Eiffel Tower, Edwards said.

In 2019, Kings Island retired one of their historic coasters — Vortex. Son of Beast was replaced by the record-breaking Banshee, Mystic Timbers re-invented the excitement of a wooden roller coaster, and Orion wowed the world as the park's first Giga coaster.
Park officials say the attraction is closing because it “has simply reached the end of its service life.” It was such a popular attraction in its first year, that it helped Kings Island surpass 3 million visitors in one season for the first time. Its record year was 1987 when 2.2 million rides were given.
This month, it started work on its replacement, Orion, which will be the 10th fastest roller coaster in the world when it makes it debut next April. It also will be one of only seven giga coasters in the world, a class of roller coasters with a height or drop of 300 to 399 feet.
The owner of the popular Kings Island amusement park outside of Cincinnati will sell it and four other parks to Cedar Fair LP for $1.24 billion. Cedar Fair (NYSE:FUN) owns Cedar Point in Sandusky and six other amusement parks.
