Generally recommended minimum 4 days Yellowstone and 2 days GTNP which translates to 5 nights/3 nights. I think your time would be best suited to 2 days in GTNP and 3 in YNP. You won't get the entire experience but 1 day in GTNP does not due it justice IMHO. GTNP is a beautiful site to hike.
