No matter where you purchase it, the Nest Learning Thermostat comes with a two year warranty, while the Nest Thermostat E comes with a standard one year warranty. But if you purchase a Nest Thermostat and installation from a Nest Pro, you'll be able to get an Extended Pro Warranty.
Nest customer service will provide you with a Return Materials Authorization ("RMA") that must be included with your return shipment to Nest so Nest can identify your shipment and with a return address. If you purchased the Product from somewhere other than the Store, please contact that reseller to obtain a refund.

Create a free account in the Nest app
You'll see a button to Sign up for a free account on the Nest app login screen. You'll need to enter your email address and choose a password. Once you've signed up you'll receive a confirmation email. For step-by-step instructions to sign up for a free account follow this link.Here's how:
- Select your thermostat on the app home screen.
- Tap the Settings icon in the top right corner of the screen.
- Select Technical info.
- You'll see numbers next to the Display model of your. thermostat. The first digit of the number tells you what. thermostat you have: 1.xx is a 1st gen Nest Learning Thermostat.
To pair your mobile device (Android or iPhone) with Nest, download the Nest app. Then, connect to the same Wi-Fi network as your Nest thermostat (presumably your only home network). Then open the app and tap Sign Up for a Nest Account. Enter your e-mail address, create a username and password, then click "Sign up."
Google acquired Nest Labs for US$3.2 billion in January 2014, when the company employed 280. As of late 2015, Nest employs more than 1,100 and added a primary engineering center in Seattle. After Google reorganized itself under the holding company Alphabet Inc., Nest operated independently of Google from 2015 to 2018.
If your system doesn't work correctly with your old thermostat and you see the same issues you had with the Nest thermostat, your system may need maintenance. Contact a local Nest Pro to diagnose and fix issues with your system.
The Nest Thermostat is compatible with 2 wire low voltage HVAC systems that are either heat only systems or cooling only systems.
While most 24V heating and cooling systems are compatible with Nest thermostats, there are some systems that aren't compatible. If you have one of the system types below, it won't work with a Nest thermostat.
If you don't run your system often enough, then your smart thermostat itself will briefly power on the HVAC to suck up some power for a short while. However, this same method may not work properly on your particular system and could result in a short circuit or possibly damage components over the long term.
The first thing to try, probably not surprisingly, is turning the thermostat off, then turning it on again. To do this, press the thermostat ring, then go to Settings > Reset > Restart > OK. While you're waiting for your Nest to boot back up, go ahead and restart your router, too.
Warranties usually insist on annual maintenance of the HVAC system to help prevent the manufacturer from making covered repairs or replacement that could easily have been avoided with regular visits by a professional. If you neglect to have this maintenance done, the warranty is likely to be void.
The fix seems to be just switching it from heat to cool, and then back to heat from the app and heat will turn right on or resetting the thermostat. The heating well past the set temperature is occurring every time it is operating.
Apple's iPhone and many phones running Google's Android operating system have this feature, but you'll need to tap the “Emergency” button on the phone's lock screen to see it. If you find an emergency contact there, you can call them and tell them to give the owner your phone number.

Google's return policy maintains that individuals can return a device within 15 days of purchase. A blinking green light near the top of your Nest thermostat's display means that it's updating the software, starting up or restarting. Typically, this will only last a minute or two. Once your thermostat has finished starting up, it will turn on so you can use it. Try removing and reconnecting the display.
You'll see a blinking red light at the top of the thermostat display to confirm that it's charging. Usually your thermostat will take about half an hour to recharge. But if the battery is fully drained it can take as long as two hours to recharge.
You should always turn off the power before you connect or disconnect any wires from your Google Nest thermostat, and you should test to make sure that the power is off. This helps protect you and your equipment during installation or troubleshooting.
Check the batteries
On the thermostat go to Settings > Technical Info > Power. The battery voltage should be the first number you see. If the voltage is above 3.6, you're good. If the voltage is low, there may be a wiring problem and your Nest may not be charging properly.Things to keep in mind
Eco Temperatures: If you've enabled Eco Temperatures, your thermostat might still automatically switch to its Eco Temperature when it senses that everybody has left home. Your Nest thermostat will use any temperatures that are in your schedule as a starting point to start learning again.Yes, if the Nest goes offline, it will continue to function as usual. You will not be able to adjust settings with your phone or computer, but adjustments can be made manually on the Nest itself. When you say the NEST occasionally cannot be reached by WiFi, that's another matter.
In most cases, Google Nest thermostats can charge their built-in battery using your system's heating and cooling wires. A common wire is simply a wire that's dedicated to delivering constant power to your thermostat.
