Egress does not handle or store any information that users share. The information is encrypted using AES 256-bit encryption and written to a secure package which can be transferred to the recipient using CD/DVD, USB stick, local file, FTP, HTTP, or an attachment to email.
Compose your message and attach any files as normal. Outlook messages are Unclassified as default (this default can be changed where required). To send the email securely, click on the Egress dropdown menu and select Encrypt message and attachments. Select Send as usual once your message is complete.
Message bodies are retained for up to 72 hours. Message metadata (including sender, recipient('s), subject and source IP) is retained for 30 days. This is required for outbound mail notifications from various platforms. Data is retained to enable re-sending messages on failure, and diagnosing issues in mail relaying.
