Consumer Reports has found major safety issues with in-bed infant sleeper products like the Baby Delight Snuggle Nest Infant Sleeper, DockATot and SwaddleMe By Your Side Sleeper. In fact, the investigation found in-bed infant sleepers like these were linked to at least 12 infant deaths between 2012 and 2018.
Elina Furman, director of marketing at DockATot, explains that her company's product isn't intended to be used for baby sleep. “The DockATot is used by many for supervised lounging, chilling and play time,” she says.
DockATot should not be used in a crib, bassinet or play yard. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has cautioned that babies should be placed in a bare crib without any additional bedding, blankets or pillows.
How to Transition from DockATot to Crib
- Step 1: Swaddle your baby in a co-sleeper bassinet. Transitioning to a co-sleeper bassinet is a great idea because it gives your baby her own safe, yet cosy, sleep space and allows you to sleep near her.
- Step 2: Use a swaddle transition blanket in the crib.
Halo Bassinet Swivel SleeperThis bedside bassinet is one of the best bassinets on the market! We found the DockATot fit perfectly into the baby bassinet, and River was so snug and comfy in there.
From the comforting and cuddling sling design, to the prospect of being a safe co-sleeping space, the Snuggle Me Organic sold like hot cakes. You can still use it to co-sleep, but the company and even the AAP recommends against it. It still snuggles around baby to keep them feeling cozy and secure during awake times.

DockATot Baby Nests Are Super Trendy, but a Lot of Parents Are Using Them Dangerously. This week Health Canada issued a warning against letting babies sleep in a baby nest with high sides, like the DockATot, because it says the padded sides present a potential suffocation risk.
Some sleep pods and nests, such as Sleepyhead, are made of breathable and permeable materials. However, we've not found SIDS research that's been carried out on these materials.
Sleepyhead Grand can be used in a crib, a toddler bed or big kid-sized bed, once the child is at least nine months old, and then only placed at a height that allows the child to safely descend on his own. Some parents prefer not to co-sleep. By slipping Sleepyhead® in as an insert, the baby sleeps snug and safe.
At a glance:There's no doubt about it – mums love the Sleepyhead! A clever little pod that allows you to let your baby nap anywhere, even in bed with you. It's easy to wipe clean, it has a washable colour and it has been approved for co-sleeping.
Does the Sleepyhead fit in a Moses Basket? So, we didn't buy the Sleepyhead to actually go into a Moses basket. But if you were considering it for that reason, the answer is no. It couldn't fit in.
You can use Sleepyhead™ for safe sleeping, co-sleeping, tummy time, play time, snuggle time, naps, as a changing station, or really just any time you need to put baby down in a comforting spot. The Grand is a cozy spot for toddlers to sleep in overnight and is ideal for safely easing the crib to bed transition.
Yes we used a Sleepyhead in a Next to Me crib until 7 months. We found it the best solution for our DD who didn't like to be put down. It wasn't as hard as we thought it'd be to transfer her to the cot bed in her own room at 7 months.
It also fits perfectly into the Chicco Next 2 Me co-sleeper. And of course there was times he just wanted to be next to me even though he was in the co sleeper beside me, So the sleepyhead was perfect to put on the bed beside me while we both just relaxed.
Keep pillows and adult bedding like sheets and blankets away from your baby. Make sure your bedding can't cover your baby's face. Consider using a safe infant sleeping bag so your baby doesn't share adult bedding. Use lightweight blankets, not heavy quilts or doonas.
It is more convenient and useful for small children to sleep without a pillow and a lounger can be a good option. While using lounger for the baby you must keep in mind that few loungers are not made for sleeping, so it is recommended by most manufacturers to use the lounger when they are awake.
Like with any sleep product, parents need to make sure their baby is at a comfortable temperature. We suggest just a diaper, onesie or a one-layer cotton pajama.

Remove pillows, blankets, toys, and crib bumpers from your baby's sleep area. Make sure that your baby's bassinet or crib has a firm mattress with a well-fitting crib sheet. When your child is ready (typically around 4 weeks if you're breastfeeding), offer a pacifier as they fall asleep.
The DockATot is designed as an in-bed co-sleeper. Co-sleeping is one of the biggest risk factors for infant sleep deaths. Safe Sleep Experts agree that there is no "safe co-sleeping." Placing the DockATot in a crib, bassinet or other sleep surface is against the manufacturer's warnings and is not safe.
