As a result of Future Shin's death at the hands of Goku Black (in the anime) or Future Babidi and Future Dabura (in the manga), Future Beerus was also killed, presumably while still asleep. His soul was destroyed when Future Zeno erased all Universes from the timeline (in the manga) or Universe 7 (in the anime).
So Zamasu killed Goku in the Future and looked through the timelines (Via the time rings) to find one to do his plan. Trunks timeline's Goku had been dead. Beerus was also dead, because Supreme Kai died while keeping Babidi from resurrecting Buu.
So Zamasu wanted to go in future so that he can make wish for his immortality. He wanted to kill the Supreme Kai Gowasu and take time ring to travel in future. Beerus destroyed Zamasu claiming that it would change a timeline but it wouldn't be the same if a mortal did so.
Beyond Dragon Ball Super: Goku Black Is Alive!
The character debuted back in Dragon Ball Super as the major antagonist of the 'Future Trunks' arc. The story ended with Fused Zamasu being destroyed by Zeno who wiped out the baddie's reality. However, it looks like Fused Zamasu is not as dead as fans once thought.
Yes and no. He can destroy immortal beings like Ghosts because he is erasing them. However, he cannot kill/erase someone stronger than him. An example of this is shown in the Dragon Ball super manga, when Goku used Hakai on Zamasu.
Zamasu also emerges unscratched from Future Trunks' Final Flash, revealing his body is immortal.
If this is the case, he is a Saiyan Hybrid.
Zamasu is evil in the sense of his mind set, as in his in misguided version of justice, but Frieza is just evil for being evil's sake. The saiyans: to do freeza's dirty work and to eventually overthrow him. Zamasu: to eliminate anything and everything that is mortal, since he ironically sees them as violent and evil.
We do know that Goku and ChiChi first met when Goku was helping Bulma search for the dragonballs. And Goku made a promise to ChiChi that he will take her hand in marriage. It doesn't feel right seeing Goku married to ChiChi because of a promise. And Goku never showed any signs of love towards ChiChi.
Zamasu is as strong as a Mastered Super Saiyan Blue, and Jiren is easily 4–6 times stronger than that. Zamasu is also not much of a fighter, if not for his regeneration he would lost to Goku a few times during their battle.
While Goku has a cheerful and energetic behavior Goku Black however has a psychopathic and malevolent personality due to Zamasu's soul inside his body (albeit the two being different people). Goku Black is also extremely sadistic as he almost always taunts his opponents.
Fused Zamasu is stronger than goku black, and goku does for a moment overpower him with A a kamehameha at full power, and the kaioken at its base level of x2 when injured form said kamehameha. Goku received a little training before the T.O.P arc, and got strong enough to handle kaioken x20 without much difficulty.
He is a God. You can see in interviews, his SSB form is Pink/White due to his godly ki. The Zamasu that took over Goku's body is a god in a mortal body.

Due to Zamasu's godly nature, it's possible that merging with Goku's body affected him in the same way that the Ssj God form affected Goku's body. The slimmer, as well as sharper, appearance of Black is visual shorthand for villain. It's a common design trick. Just look at Freeza.
No he can't, because Rosè is a form that can only be achieved by a god that takes a Saiyan body. Super Saiyan Rose is only attained by Goku black due to the fact that he is actually zamasu. Super Saiyan Rose is Super Saiyan mixed with a divine like ki that Zamasu has. Goku only has normal ki and god ki.
Vegeta's never beaten Goku and he never will. While Vegeta would have won their fight during the Saiyan– that much is undeniable– Gohan and Krillin interrupt the battle before Vegeta can finish off Goku. During the Buu arc, the fight was already over when Vegeta knocked Goku out.
Super Saiyan Rosé is more powerful than Super Saiyan Blue because not really for its general base strength but more so its adaptability. From what we've gathered, Rosé should be 1.2x stronger than Blue. Following that he became a threat to Goku and Vegeta alike in Super Saiyan Blue even.
Goku Black was as strong as supressed SSJ2 Goku when they first fought, in his base. However, Goku Black had the same body as Goku's body in the main timeline. Goku Black shouldn't be stronger than calm Goku in the second and third fights (angry Goku pushed Black back just like Vegeta did).
Black was smart and used Trunks to get stronger. One of the reasons why Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks struggled with Black was because Zamasu backed him up in almost every single fight. Once that happened, Black took a beating from Vegeta while Zamasu also got beat down by Goku and then got hit by the Mafuba.
