Once landed in Plymouth, John married fellow passenger Priscilla Mullins, whose entire family had died within a few months of arriving in America. John and Priscilla had 11 children survive to adulthood and are thought to have the most descendants of any Pilgrims.
Who did Priscilla Alden marry?
(ca. 1626 or 1627 – March 25, 1702 [O.S. March 14, 1701]) was a 17th-century American soldier, politician, merchant, and sailor. He was a well-known public figure in his time but is now chiefly remembered as a survivor of the Salem witch trials, of which he wrote a much quoted and studied account.
This group illustrates a line from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem The Courtship of Miles Standish. In the poem, Captain Miles Standish asks his friend John Alden to propose to Priscilla on his behalf.

Priscilla Mullins was born in Dorking, Surrey, the daughter of William and step-daughter of Alice Mullins. Plymouth Rock consists of Dedham granite some 600 million years old that was deposited by glacial activity on the beach at Plymouth about 20,000 years ago. The Pilgrims—who made their first North American landfall on Cape Cod, not at Plymouth—did not mention any rocks in the earliest accounts of Plymouth colony.
Myles Standish (c. 1584 – October 3, 1656) was an English military officer. Standish accompanied the Pilgrims on the ship Mayflower and played a leading role in the administration and defense of Plymouth Colony from its foundation in 1620.
The Mayflower Compact created laws for Mayflower Pilgrims and non-Pilgrims alike for the good of their new colony. It was a short document which established that: the colonists would create and enact “laws, ordinances, acts, constitutions and offices…” for the good of the colony, and abide by those laws.
