The second season aired in Japan between October 3, 2008, and March 26, 2009, on TBS in 4:3 aspect ratio with 24 episodes. Clannad After Story also aired in 16:9 aspect ratio starting on October 24, 2008. The episodes were released on eight DVD compilation volumes between December 3, 2008, and July 1, 2009.
2 CLANNAD. Clannad is the anime adaptation of Key's visual novel of the same name. It's probably the most well-known sad anime out there. The anime consists of two seasons: the twenty-three-episode-long Clannad and its infinitely more depressing follow-up, the twenty-four-episode-long Clannad: After Story.
Once Tomoya comes to the realization that life is worth living with Nagisa (i.e. not hating the town) his wish comes true, and he is taken back to the night Nagisa died. However instead of her dying, she and Ushio lead happy and healthy lives. That's basically it.
The Death of Nagisa Okazaki is when she gives birth to Ushio Okazaki and dies shortly afterwards. This happens in episode 16 of Clannad After Story This happens at the beginning of 2006 in the anime and 24 December 2006 in the visual novel.
Youhei Sunohara was on the soccer team until he was involved in a dispute, first with a rival team, and later with his own. These disputes led to him fighting both teams and eventually being expelled from the club.
When Ushio and Fuko fall asleep, he states that he has a vague memory of Nagisa and Ushio dying, while not stating that he may have died. Afterward, Nagisa calls for them to go home and Ushio and Fuko wake up and leave with Tomoya. Tomoya admits to Ryou he doesn't feel the same way as her, and they break up.
Ayaka is Aki's caretaker and, as a result, the two have an extremely close relationship.
Tomoya only fainted from the operation's setback, awakened sometime later and reunited with Tomoyo alive and well after being released from the hospital, or; Tomoyo passed away from old age, reuniting with Tomoya in the afterlife.
