As of 2017, it has been in use for over 60 years and is used on the Dillon M134D Minigun, M60 Machine Gun, FN MAG/M240, Mk 48, MG3, HK21, MG5, UKM-2000, K12, SS-77 and Negev NG-7, among others. Some countries redesignated the M13 link when it was adopted.

While the SBR version is available to most civilians—provided they jump through the appropriate hoops and pay the NFA tax—the submachine gun version is unavailable. Wanting a civilian-legal version as close to the original design as possible, SIG decided to offer a pistol-only version, and hence the MPX-P was born.
Sig Sauer MPX Carbine: One of the most exciting rifles is the MPX Carbine. The MPX is best described as an updated version of the classic MP5 submachine gun. It's chambered in 9mm and fires from a closed bolt utilizing a short-stroke piston operating system.
Like its Season One sibling, the Holger-26, the RAM-7 fits a hybrid role between a true assault rifle and a submachine-gun. A fast rate of fire and solid mobility stats makes it competitive in close-quarters against SMGs, but its damage output and manageable recoil allow it to hold its own at longer ranges.
