A Global spokesperson said: “Smooth Extra and Heart Extra have been replaced with the national Smooth and Heart broadcast. Smooth UK and Heart UK switched over at midnight on Digital One, Global Player and Radioplayer.
The refresh has happened following the purchase of GMG Radio by Global Radio, owners of Classic FM, Capital FM, Gold, Heart and Xfm. This means that the national feed of Smooth Radio on national digital radio will close, with AM frequencies currently broadcasting Gold switching to Smooth Radio.

The FM radio band is from 88 to 108 MHz between VHF television Channels 6 and 7. The FM stations are assigned center frequencies at 200 kHz separation starting at 88.1 MHz, for a maximum of 100 stations.
Basically, bandwidth means how "wide" your broadcasting channel will be. 2.4Ghz networks have two options: 20MHz (the 'normal' bandwidth) and 40MHz (doubled).
However , FM is more typically used on VHF where you are limited to line of sight and where power drops off much quicker with distance. Using high gain directional antennas on both ends and “talking” mountaintop to mountaintop you might get 100 miles with 5 watts but typically not.
One of the reasons FM radio 'sounds so bad' is because the source material is bad. In the late 1990's, stations (and radio companies that own local station 'clusters') began going from CDs (and the few carts left) to Music On Hard Drive.
One megahertz is equal to one million cycles per second, while one gigahertz equals one billion cycles per second. This means a 1.8 GHz processor has twice the clock speed of a 900 MHz processor. However, it is important to note that a 1.8 GHz CPU is not necessarily twice as fast as a 900 MHz CPU.
RAM frequency is measured in MHz and usually immediately follows the DDR version in the RAM spec. This is why though higher frequency RAM is technically faster, that additional speed often does not translate into better actual real world performance.
By default, the 2.4 GHz frequency uses a 20 MHz channel width. A 20MHz channel width is wide enough to span one channel. A 40 MHz channel width bonds two 20 MHz channels together, forming a 40 MHz channel width; therefore, it allows for greater speed and faster transfer rates.
The FM Transmitter is one of the few transmitting devices available that is FCC approved. Choose any FM frequency between: 88.1 MHz to 107.9 MHz. Enter your City (or Zip Code) and State to find the best unused FM Frequencies in your area. Using unused frequencie will ensure optimal performance with your FM Transmitter.
