Most versions of Superman (and most other kryptonians in the series) were able to control their flying ability instantly. However, in Smallville, due to suffering from acrophobia (fear of heights), Clark was unable to use this ability consciously for a very long time.
Lana took them to Warehouse 15, only to find that the ship was gone, and Clark had to save her from a bomb. While being pursued by a drunk Lex, Lana died when her SUV was hit by a bus. Distraught over her death, Clark went to the Fortress of Solitude and asked Jor-El to reverse time, saving her from the car accident.
Chloe died after using her powers to heal Lex. She was dead for 18 hours, before coming back to life through her meteor power. Chloe was knocked out by Gina at the Isis Foundation while investigating Lionel´s death.
Lana returned for five episodes in season 8 on a mission to acquire super powers. After getting what she wanted and incidentally, having her body infused with Kryptonite, she was no longer able to come near Clark without hurting him. After a tearful farewell, Lana left Smallville and never returned.
Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk) was Clark's main love interest for most of Smallville, but she didn't find out his secret until the end of season 6. A few episodes after Lana observed Clark using his powers in secret, Clark finally told her that he was an alien from Krypton in the season 6 finale.
