Types of Grading Systems

For 'O' level grades, Distinctions 1 & 2 carry 0.3 points, Credits 3 to 6 carry 0.2 ,Passes 7 & 8 carry 0.1 and Fail (9) carry 0.0 weights respectively. For A' Level grades, the conversion scale is A=6, B=5, C=4, D=3, E=2, O=1, F=0 points.

All applicants are required to have an internationally recognised English language qualification such as IELTS. The Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) English at Grade B or GCSE/IGCSE English at Grade C or above are currently accepted in place of IELTS or equivalent.
Both guilloches and see-through register have been used to secure KCSE certificates. To verify authenticity of the document, KNEC advices one to hold the certificate up to the light and ensure that the word mtihani and the genuine security thread are available.
The students can download their KCSE result slip online through the website of KNEC and they can also download their KCSE result slip through SMS by sending their Index number to 22252.
Lost KCSE and KCPE Certificates Replacement
- To be attached to the certificate replacement request form is a sworn legal affidavit on the identity of the applicant.
- The applicant should attach a copy of his or her national identification card to the application form.
- Pay a processing fee.
Admission to Certificate Courses will be based on any of the following minimum qualifications: KCSE mean grade of C- or equivalent. An O' level mean grade of Division III or equivalent. An A' Level qualification with a minimum of two subsidiary passes or equivalent.
