Darcy comes to love Eliabeth sincerely by the end of the novel therefore because she is one of the only women to stand up to him and to teach him a lesson that leads to true development in his character. This builds on his earlier favourable impressions of Elizabeth to form a solid, lasting regard and love towards her.
Wickham's father was a steward to Darcy's father and he was present when Darcy's father passed away. They both went to school together but Wickham was lazy and left in disgrace. He is always asking Darcy for more money to deal with his gambling debts. This causes a strained relationship between the two characters.
14) Why does Wickham lie to Elizabeth? Wickham tells Elizabeth that Mr. Darcy's father's wishes were ignored when they were not. He fails to tell her about his dalliance with Georgiana Darcy, his leaving his studies in both theology and law, and his mismanagement of money.

In an ironic inversion, Darcy accuses Elizabeth of being too proud, while Elizabeth accuses him of being prejudiced. She tells Darcy that he has a propensity to hate people and has shown his prejudice against Wickham and Jane (and everyone else who comes in his way).

The overall style of Pride and Prejudice is ironic and witty. The speeches of various characters also contribute to the ironic style by creating gaps between what is literally being said and what the reader can interpret about the reality of the situation.

When Mr. Bingley returns to Netherfield after Lydia's marriage, it is clear to everybody that he and Jane will be married at last. Mr. Bingley and Jane get engaged, and Jane feels like the happiest woman in the world.
She tries to intimidate Elizabeth because she thinks that Elizabeth wants to marry Mr. Darcy. Lady Catherine does not approve of this turn of events, because she wants Mr. Darcy to marry her daughter, Anne, who she considers a better match in terms of status.
What does Elizabeth admit to her father? That it was Darcy who paid for Wickham to marry Lydia, that he also paid for the wedding. She began to praise him (Darcy) immediately and forget all of her rudeness to Darcy. She became immediately jubilant.
Bennet needed to "marry them off"- Other than that, the women would be a hassle to society by becoming old maids, with no social position. More than merely marry off her daughters, she wanted to "marry them well", which means basically, to marry them to money and position.
Lizzy rejects Darcy's first proposal because while he admits to loving her, he also says many insulting things about her family and social position. These attitudes are offensive to Lizzy, because she does not think Darcy is inherently better than her.

He is fairly tall and handsome, but his demeanor is unfriendly, aloof, and unapproachable. He has a sister, Georgiana, who adores him, and the feeling is mutual.
He's attractive because he's handsome and rich. The men at the assembly judge him to be “a fine figure of a man,” while “the ladies declared he was much handsomer than Mr. Bingley.”
Darcy blames his parents and his upbringing for his social failings, while at the same time insisting his mother and father didn't mean to make him that way. His wealth and social status also contribute to his grumpiness: he is used to everyone catering to his every whim and flattering him.
Darcy says he only did it for her, and tells her that his affections have never changed towards her. Elizabeth, elated, confesses to Mr. Darcy that her feelings for him have changed, and she also is in love with him.
Darcy's hand in the picture above is intended to show just how moved he is by being able to touch her hand. Whilst this is out of tune with the etiquette of the book, it worked as quite a fitting way to show their attraction in the 2005 film.
Lydia is a spoiled rotten youngest child, heedless and shallow, obsessed with beating her older sisters to the altar. She is also dangerously naive, and she lives in an era of rigid social rules, so she assumes that in eloping with him she is automatically going to get married.
