The ryzen 1200 is better for gaming than the FX 8350 IMO. the '8' core (grain of salt needed) is really slow when it comes to single core performance, actually lower ipc than the A10 (Kavari vs Bulldozer). 8350 will be much better than that but just go with Ryzen. Less power/noise.

No. They actually designed a line of Athlon CPUs for the AM4 socket. That above is for FM2, and will not even fit.
Sometimes. AMD has been pretty good about this for the last few CPU generations. They maintained CPU compatibility with the AM4 socket, although you will need to update the BIOS software to support newer CPUs. And yes, those boards are backward compatible, at least as far as Ryzen goes.
