Apple announced plans Monday to open a new campus in the Raleigh, North Carolina, area. Apple will spend over $1 billion on the campus, and it will employ 3,000 people working on technology including software engineering and machine learning. Apple's $1 billion campus in Austin, Texas, is expected to open next year.
Apple AAPL +2% has promised to add 20,000 U.S. jobs by 2026, with at least 3,000 of those jobs being in Raleigh, North Carolina. Employees will work from its first East Coast campus that Apple is dropping more than $1 billion to build.
Apple's campus will be located on the Wake County side of RTP, the largest research park in the U.S., and will sit on land straddling North Carolina Highway 540 near Cary and Morrisville, The News & Observer reported.
