The State as a whole has a population approaching 20 million, and people over 60 make up nearly 23 percent of that population. What's the population for the state of Florida?
The youngest state in the country is Utah, new data shows. Utah residents have a median age of 30.7 years old, younger than any other state in the U.S., according to 2016 data from the Census Bureau's American Community Survey.
In 2014, there were 72,197 Americans aged 100 or older, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That number is up 44 percent from 2000, when there were only 50,281 centenarians.
The national median age rose to 38.2 years last year, according to newly released data from the U.S. Census Bureau. That suggests half of the U.S. population is more than 38-years-old and half is younger. By gender, the median for woman is 39.5 while for men its 36.9 years.
