The Bose sounds slightly better balanced for songs with female lyrics, and all around listening. The Bose speaker costs $63 more then the JBL Charge2+ which is 45% more.

Bookshelves are a good idea if the listening area is small and the speakers need not produce a lot of sound to fill the listening area. Floorstanding speakers are designed to produce more impactful sound. They will have dedicated drivers to reproduce low, mid and high frequencies.

No, but there is a lot to say about many things of older speakers. They're not better simply because they were made to be powered from weaker amplifiers (in general), so they have higher sensitivity, but this usually sacrifices quality somewhere.
How long a speaker lasts depends on many factors, but if used with care it should be possible to get 40-50 years out of a good set of speakers and probably longer. The main point of failure is usually the woofer surround, particularly if thrashed, although some types do naturally perish with age.

More recently, Elac has delivered a great selection of well-performing, well-made and attractively-priced speakers, some of which rival the best in class.
Dali is a good brand, yes. Yes they are solid speaker, I'm a new owner of the Ikon 6 MK2's and have been listening to them like a beast but would like to eventually experiment with a sub for movie watching and my rock library. Dali is a great brand but for music I would go with the zensor 3s and a sub.
Every speaker produces certain frequencies that are louder or softer than others. Assuming that your ultimate goal is accurate audio reproduction, the less variation in loudness between frequencies—in other words, the flatter the frequency response chart is—the better the speaker quality.
An expensive pair of speakers will sound great with a cheap Chinese amp. It will sound better when you upgrade the amp. A cheap pair of speakers will sound underwhelming with a cheap or expensive amp.
When it comes to "volume," many musicians only consider the amplifier's power or wattage rating, and in general, more watts does mean "louder." But while wattage is an important consideration, the efficiency of the speaker(s) that are connected to the amplifier are also an important factor in the loudness equation.
When it comes to bass, speakers outperform headphones. While headphones can reproduce deep bass accurately, headphones never let you feel the bass the way you can with speakers. Speakers stereo imaging is also more realistic, more like what you hear in real life than even the best headphones.
The best speakers for 2020: Bose, Sonos, Yamaha, Vizio and more compared

- Best sounding smart speaker. Sonos One.
- Best smart soundbar. Yamaha YAS-209.
- Best bookshelf speakers. Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2.

Much depends on your listening habits and your speaker's efficiency. If you like loud uncompressed music and your speakers are 90dB efficient, 200 Watts is likely plenty of power for you. If you only listen to light classical, jazz and don't expect them to rock the house, 50 Watts is adequate.
If you want more volume, or you experience clipping/distortion, then a more powerful amp may be needed. A better amp will make your speakers play louder and sound better, but it won't make bad speakers sound like good speakers.
JBL speakers have high-quality design and crafted with careful engineering, that indeed costs money. The local taxes and other additional taxes raise the JBL retail price. The latest JBL speakers are splash-proof and dust-proof; all these technology increase overall price.
The cost of a speaker comes from more than the electronic components themselves. High-End speakers can be more expensive due to the design of the speakers, the quality of materials, the durability and weight, and even the branding. These elements are often much more important than people realize.
