If you look at the number of those who have served as US Marines and how many Marines have been killed on active duty, the number is extremely small. It's true that the Army and Marines are more dangerous than most civilian jobs and that Marine infantry is more dangerous than the rest of the military.
The Marine Corps experienced the highest fatality rates per 100,000 for all causes (122.5), unintentional injury (77.1), suicide (14.0), and homicide (7.4) of all the services. The Army had the highest disease and illness-related fatality rate (20.2 per 100,000) of all the services.

You don't smile because smiling shows emotion- and Marines don't have emotions when they are acting in an official capacity.
They are support troops backing up those who do. When you break it down, about one out of every 10 soldiers in the military -- 10% overall -- actually go to combat and have to fire their weapons.
Not all Marines see combat. The chances are perhaps slightly better as an Army Infantryman, but it's very close.
Are you allowed to have a beard or mustache in the Marine Corps? Beards are not authorized. Mustaches, on the other hand, are. You need to meet certain criteria, and they are not allowed while you're in recruit training.

Pension. The Marine Corps pension program offers half of a veteran's full pay at time of retirement, beginning the day after retirement. If you retire after more than 20 years of service, your benefits increase by 2.75 percent each year.
Thousands of Marines are always deployed aboard naval amphibious ships ready to respond to an international crises. This ability to mobilize quickly has allowed the Marines to become the United States' ready-reaction force. The Army on the other hand is a much larger force and is used in larger and longer conflicts.
Male recruits and Marines must complete the three-mile run in 28 minutes or less. Female recruits and Marines must complete the three-mile run in 31 minutes or less.
It doesn't matter what your Marine Corps job is: If you're a Marine, you're going to deploy, sooner or later. The Marines are proud of the fact that they're all considered riflemen first, and whatever their military occupational specialty (MOS) or job is second.
There is no such thing as “I quit.” You enlist for a term of service and if you fulfill your enlistment you become an honorably discharged veteran. So there is no “I want out”, there is only “you are not good enough to be in”, and you have to choose how you want to be defective.

We both execute things pretty much the same with the same level of effectiveness and due to the fact the Army is better equipped soldiers are better trained on different and more advanced pieces of equipment. Army has much more than "nearly" double than the Marine Corps.
Recruit training, or boot camp, in both the Army and the Marine Corps are widely known for their rigorous team building, weapons training and disciplinary tactics. Although the Marine Corps boot camp is longer and said to be more intensive, the Army is larger and trains more ground troops.
Today, women in the Marine Corps are called Marines. I am proud to call myself a Marine and feel like I had just a tiny part in where the Marine Corps is today.
Unfortunately, some (perhaps even many) recruiters do lie. Obviously it's a detestable thing to give misleading information just to help your sales numbers, especially when it's a substantial stretch of a recruit's life that may result in him or her in a combat environment.
Army Green Berets — "Special Forces"Notably, Green Berets have some of the toughest initial training in the entire military (at the risk of drawing the ire of SEALs and Marine Recon). Their initial test lasts an incredible 24 days, and that's just to see if you can attend the Green Beret qualification course.
The commissioned ranks are the highest in the military. Army, Air Force and Marine Corps officers are called company grade officers in the paygrades of O-1 to O-3, field grade officers in paygrades O-4 to O-6 and general officers in paygrades O-7 and higher.

From a former Infantry Marine's perspective, and looking at the number of jobs available in the Corps, I would have to say Musician (MOS 5526) is the easiest job in the Marine Corps.
