The St Mawes Ferry runs 364 days a year.Connecting the old world fishing village of St Mawes with the bustling maritime port of Falmouth. Sailings run up to three times an hour in the summer and once an hour in the winter.
St Mawes does not have miles of golden sand it's not that type of place, instead it has small "rugged" beaches hugging the shoreline with the harbour at the centre. The beach is small but very nice. It has views of the village, the ferries and the ocean/coast.

The clover-leaf shaped St Mawes Castle is the best preserved and most elaborately decorated of the coastal fortresses, built by Henry VIII to defend the coast from invasion by France and Spain. It stands on the opposite side of the Fal Estuary from its sister castle of Pendennis.
Part of a chain of forts built between 1539 and 1545 to counter an invasion threat from Catholic France and Spain, St Mawes would have guarded the important anchorage of Carrick Roads alongside Pendennis Castle.
“St Mawes has so many good points. There's the wonderful scenery, particularly the views from the top of the hill and from the castle. And the beaches are very good – safe, clean and excellent for families. There are also some lovely walks and my favourite is the one from the Castle to St Just-in-Roseland.
There are great local organic food producers, farm shops and markets in the area of St Mawes, Cornwall.

Huge waves whipped up by winds that reached 65mph have caused flooding in a number of seaside towns in Cornwall. The ground floor including the cafe at the Ship and Castle Hotel in St Mawes was flooded for several hours until the fire service pumped out the water.
The ferry takes 162,000 passengers on a 2.8 mile journey every year, saving them what would be a 29 mile journey by road. Three boats make up the fleet of ferries that sail from Falmouth to St Mawes; Duchess of Cornwall, May Queen and Queen of Falmouth. Dogs are welcome on leads.
