The Council of Europe charter on sport uses the following definition: "Sport means all forms of physical activity, which through casual or organised participation, aim at expressing or improving physical fitness and mental well-being, forming social relationships or obtaining results in competition at all levels".

Physical education provides cognitive content and instruction designed to develop motor skills, knowledge, and behaviors for physical activity and physical fitness. Supporting schools to establish physical education daily can provide students with the ability and confidence to be physically active for a lifetime.
Physical education (PE) is a compulsory part of the curriculum for all pupils at every Key Stage, from age four to 16. The minimum content for each Key Stage is as follows: Foundation and Key Stage 1 - athletics, dance, games, and gymnastics.
On Monday, Federal Sports Minister, Bridget McKenzie, said state governments should make sports and physical literacy compulsory in schools. “If you're physically literate, and all that means is you have the confidence and motivation to be active, you're actually going to do better academically,” she said.

You can't “fail” a year. And while it is possible in theory for the school to recommend to your parents that you repeat Year 10, that never, ever happens. Basically holding students back a year stigmatises them, and they seldom do any better the second time around.
If you don't go to school or take part in your agreed form of education or training, your parents can be fined and even taken to court. There are a few exceptions to this, like if you are home-schooled or you or your parents apply for and get special permission.

Foreign students may come to the United States to live with U.S. citizen relatives while attending public school. The child is limited to twelve months of study in secondary school (high school). The child may not study in elementary school.
