There are some jump scares, and there are plenty of tense moments when you are short on ammunition and health and you can see or hear the monsters coming for you, but most of the horror in the game is realising just how bad things are for those that are still alive.
The story is good, a lot of supernatural elements which I did not expect and I am excited to learn more about what's going on in that aspect. Technically the game runs perfectly for me. I am running 7950s in crossfire with a 4690K at 4.0Ghz. No stuttering, glitching, crashing or any kind of issues that I've seen.
There is no multiplayer in Metro 2033 Redux.

It's an amazing looking game although some areas do look rather rough, even on Xbox One X. It doesn't help that everything in Exodus also suffers from horrendous bugs, poor AI and increasingly boring mission design. Metro Exodus is an incredibly buggy experience.
While not necessary to playing Metro Exodus, the author has four Metro books: Metro 2033, Metro 2034, Metro: Last Light, and Metro 2035. If that's the case, you might appreciate the evolution a little more having played the prior two entries but, ultimately, you'd be able to enjoy Metro Exodus on its own merits.
