"In Hindu shastra, the number 13 is actually lucky because it means Trayodashi. If you do anything on that day, it will give good, positive results," he said on June 16. He recalled that when he moved into the Talkatora Road bunglow as a Member of Parliament, he was cautioned by many that the number 13 was unlucky.
Each year, at least once, Friday the 13th makes an appearance on our calendars - and for some, the date spells nothing but bad news as it is considered a highly unlucky day. While the date can occur up to three times in a single year, August 2021 holds the only Friday the 13th that we have to survive this year.
But the number four is considered unlucky because it sounds a lot like the word for “death,†and as a result Chinese buildings often lack a fourth floor (just as American buildings sometimes skip the 13th). Likewise, Chinese drivers avoid license plates ending in four.

However, 13 is just one of the sacred numbers for the Moon along with 12, 19, and 29.5.
The number 13 brings the test, the suffering and the death. It symbolises the death to the matter or to oneself and the birth to the spirit: the passage on a higher level of existence. For the superstitious, this number brings bad luck or misfortune.
"In India, we believe that the number 8 is an unlucky number. However, the Chinese believe it to be a very lucky number. Although the number 8 is not a very auspicious number in numerology, yet the presence of three 8 takes the total to 24 (8+8+8=24), which is considered a good number in numerology."
Numerologists and astrologers claim it's no coincidence. "Numerologically, the number 26 is a very unlucky number. 26 comes to 8 (2+6=8) which brings in destruction," Mumbai-based numerologist Sanjay Jhumani said.
