Conclusion. In summary, the Howa 1500 rifle truly represents an incredible value when it comes to a long range and/or hunting rifle. As a mid-range rifle that's far more affordable in contrast to higher priced options, the Howa 1500 is well-built, durable, and accurate.
They are very nice rifles, Some of the vanguards have features that usually go on the MKV rifles (B&C stocks, fluted barrels etc). Vanguards are great rifles for the value and also a good affordable way to get into the Weatherby calibers without spending 1600 dollars.
Accuracy with the rifle was quite good. I shot all three factory loads Weatherby is offering. The 127-grain Barnes LRX load did the best, turning in sub-MOA 5-shot groups, averaging . (Like that of most other gun companies, Weatherby's accuracy guarantee is based on more forgiving 3-shot groups.)
300 Weatherby is an extremely powerful cartridge, capable of driving a 150-grain bullet at better than 3,500 feet per second from the muzzle. Even with heavier 180-grain bullets it can beat 3,200 feet per second, generating in excess of 4,200 foot-pounds of energy.
Since that year, Weatherby rifles have been made in the U.S. Barreled actions for Mark V were made by ATEK in Brainerd, Minnesota. Mark V rifles are currently made in Sheridan, Wyoming. The action for Vanguard is made by Howa in Japan. For many years, Weatherby shotguns were made in Japan or Italy.
Weatherby offers only two lines of centerfire rifles: the Mark V and the Vanguard. The Mark V barreled action is manufactured by ATEK in Brainerd, Minnesota, while the barrel and action for the Vanguard are still manufactured by Howa in Japan.
There were two different scope manufacturers that made scopes for Weatherby. The first ones were made in Germany by Hertel & Reuss and after that they were made by one of the Japanese OEM's. The funny looking ones, the ones with the windage and elevation turrets on the top of the scope, were made in Germany.

Bergara has many excellent rifles to choose from, but few are as popular as their B-14 HMR. These bolt-action rifles are in essence custom quality and feature some of the finest craftsmanship available on the market.
A free floated rifle barrel means that the barrel does not touch the stock at any point along it's length. It is free to move during the shot in a normal manner without interference from the stock, therefore allowing it's performance to be more consistent and accurate.

The Weatherby Vanguard has enjoyed a lot of success over the years because it is seen as an excellent budget choice and still delivers solid build quality. It has always been one of the cheapest fullbore rifles available in the UK, and gives a lot of 'bang for your buck'.
Most Browning guns were made in Belgium by Fabrique Nationale (FN) until the mid 1970s when some production was shifted to Miroku in Japan. Today's Browning firearms are made in either Belgium, Portugal, Japan or in the United States. The original Browning & Brothers store in Ogden, Utah.
Out of the box accuracy is acceptable for a hunting rifle at this price point. The barely over 1 MOA group above was shot with Federal Non-Typical 150 Grain. The Howa is accurate enough to satisfy the average hunters's needs, but left me wanting more. This rifle could really benefit from a free-float stock.
Howa rifles are heavy, but I'm a big fan of the action, safety, and trigger. Howa free-floats the barrel, unlike the very similar Weatherby Vanguard. In fact, Weatherby says that their decision to not free-float the barrel is to improve accuracy. It all makes me wonder.

The Howa is actually one of the better factory triggers out there, it's easy to adjust and can be safely adjusted but not less than 2.5 pounds.
Available in . 204 Ruger, . 222 Rem. and . 223 Rem., the Mini Action utilizes the same push-feed bolt with dual-opposed locking lugs found on Howa 1500-series rifles, but company engineers significantly shortened the bolt to provide a lighter, trimmer action that's perfect for the walking varmint hunter.
The 270 Winchester has a larger power supply than the 6.5 Creedmoor, but it needs a higher B.C. bullet than this Power Max Bonded if it wants to keep its trajectory advantage past 300 yards. Quite interesting is that the Creedmoor achieves this performance with roughly 15 grains less powder than the 270 Winchester.
Listed as the current top ranking custom action in the “What The Pro's Use” series, Impact 737R actions are known for their reliability and ability to hold extreme tolerances from action to action. Like many other custom actions, these actions feature an integral recoil lug and 20 MOA picatinny rail.

The 6.5 Creedmoor, drops below 2,000 foot-pounds at 100 yards and below 1,000 foot-pounds at 490 yards. The point is simply this, ethical long range hunting not just about the ability to hit the animal; it's also about delivering a high quality bullet with enough juice to make a clean kill every single time.
Quite an improvement over the factory plastic stock. They come with pillars installed and are very well made, IMOP. Replacing the tupperware stock with a properly bedded aftermarket stock will most likely improve accuracy potential.
