The Fiat Panda Trekking offers all the visual appeal of 4x4 with two-wheel-drive running costs. That means it gets the same 47mm raised ride height and grippy mud and snow tyres as the Panda 4x4, but costs £1,500 less.
The car's part-time 4x4 system works a treat; front-wheel drive until it senses a loss of traction, there's no discernable delay before power is sent rearward. The added bonus is supermini levels of fuel consumption when the rear wheels are not being driven.
Canadian showrooms will include the 500L, an all-electric Fiat 500 EV, the next-gen Abarth Punto, and the Panda MPV which is expected to be a sure seller. They sold another 5,000 in Canada, a country with one-tenth of the population of the US. The Panda, produced since 1980 is a European favourite.
All Fiat Panda models can be bought with a manual gearbox. Some are available with an automatic gearbox, which Fiat calls Dualogic.
