Answer : No. I had been playing ESO for over a year now (since Dec 2017) and the best I could describe it is it is a massive open-World (actual World called Tamriel) game where you can explore about 70% of them with the amount you had paid for the game.
If you are a new player to ESO, it absolutely is worth it in my opinion, because buying Greymoor gives you the base game (vanilla/OT), Morrowind, Summerset, Elsweyr, and the new chapter Greymoor.
So ESO will likely be around for as long as Zenimax Media consider it financially beneficial to keep producing content and supporting it. Given that the next Elder Scrolls game is still a few years off, I would guess ESO has a good chance of making it to 10 years.
I enjoy playing the game and earning gems is just a bonus. Another way to get crown gems is to get the ESO Plus subscription. It costs money but every month you're rewarded with free Crowns. And you can collect the crowns and buy crates from them for free.

ESO+ will give you access to old chapters but NOT to Greymoor (once new chapters come out, old ones are considered dlc, plus you will have access to all the smaller dlc areas and content within them). If you want Greymoor + all DLC: buy upgrade + subscription.
I'd say go for it. If for no other reason than the lore of the Elder Scrolls universe is really rich and interesting. The quests are ok, and like all MMOs there's more stuff to do than you will ever have time for. If you can buy it cheap then I think it's worth it.
The only difference in the editions will be what it includes. Some versions only include the Original ESO base game, some include ESO+Morrowind, some include more than that. No cause when I go online to buy it, Elder Scrolls Online is about $10 but Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited is $15.
As long as you are a member you have access to every DLC new and old. Also, buying ESO plus for $15 also just gives you $15 worth of Crowns too. TLDR: Get the Elsweyr pack with all 3 Chapters and a month of ESO Plus. This will get you all the expansions.
I would say banker, merchant, outfit slots, character slots, storage chests, crown store exclusive motifs (e.g. frostcaster), are the best buys. My plan after I hit 50 is to get ESO+ for six months to try all the dlc then use my crowns to buy what I want.

I've got a lot of entertainment out of it, and would recommend it to any PS4 owner. The most recent patch has improved loading and travel times and improved framerate so it's as good a time as any to jump in. Ps4 playerbase is fine, lots of people still playing new,old and returning

There are 4 12-man raids. Each one has a normal version and a veteran version, and an optional hardmode on the last bosses of veteran mode. Raids usually have 8 dps, 2 healers, a main tank, and an offtank, which isn't always needed. Trials are 12-person "raids" that exist in ESO.
