EE and O2 are two of the UK's main four mobile operators, alongside Three and Vodafone. EE was formed in 2012 by the merger of Orange and T-Mobile, while O2 can trace its roots back to Cellnet and BT Cellnet before it became O2 in 2002.

Fastest Mobile Network EE
EE offers the fastest 4G service in the UK with speeds that are, in some cases, faster than BT's fibre-based Infinity service. It's remarkable to think you can download data wirelessly, from a park, at 90mbps, but EE makes it possible for some to do just that.O2 4G speed, in contrast, is generally slower if compared to EE with an average download speed of 14.6 Mb/s. Half Cooked's Winner: Overall, EE enjoys the best network coverage and speeds in the UK. Both networks offer 99% coverage but EE's data speeds are what separate them.
Both for speeds and the breadth of its 4G coverage. That's underscored by data from Rootmetrics, which named EE the best provider in 2017 and took into account reliability, speed and data, as well as calls and texts. In second place was Three, followed by Vodafone and O2.
Verizon. Several independent studies have found Verizon to be the best mobile network in the US. The cell phone company ranks extremely well in all the different aspects ranging from reliability, network coverage to speed.
The company was rebranded as BT Cellnet in 2000, and it became a part of BT Wireless, a group of companies owned by BT. BT announced on 3 September 2001 that the BT Wireless business would be spun off from the main group as a newly listed holding company, mmO2 plc, operating under the "O2" brand.
EE vs Vodafone mobile internet speeds
Vodafone's mobile broadband speeds are similarly impressive, though. In the same Open Signals report, Vodafone came just behind EE, with reported download speeds of 24.3Mbps and 8.5Mbps upload speeds. Plusnet Mobile uses EE's infrastructure, and that's good news, as EE has more extensive 4G infrastructure than any other UK network, with over 99% population coverage and over 86% of the UK geography covered. It's also got great 3G and 2G population coverage, at 98% and 99% respectively.
