Yes UC Berkeley is worth it. The school is considered elite: it's hard to get into and it's respected globally. The professors are top notch and some of the dorm rooms offer views of San Francisco Bay. All colleges have imperfections even Cal.

For every 100 applicants, only 15 are admitted. This means the school is extremely selective. Meeting their GPA requirements and SAT/ACT requirements is very important to getting past their first round of filters and proving your academic preparation.Then it's probably not. But trust me - there are a bunch of schools out there that are far less “worth it” than UC Berkeley - even if you're paying out-of-state tuition. If you can afford it, yes, unless you can get a better financial offer from Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Oxford, or Cambridge.

Stanford is a bubble more than Harvard. Harvard is bigger by funding and faculty in most departments, and is classically strong in the natural sciences (math, biology, physics, chemistry) whereas Stanford is more applied (CS, electrical engineering). But sometimes bigger is not better as an undergraduate.

It's certainly possible that you can get into Stanford with a 3.5 GPA, but the odds are definitely against you. It's no secret that the lower your GPA and SAT scores, the lower your chances are of getting in.

The Ivy League is a fixed group of schools which are all private, except for Cornell, which has public components. The Ivy League is an athletic conference comprising 8 well-known, private schools (Harvard, Dartmouth, Brown, Yale, Cornell, Columbia, Princeton and University of Pennsylvania).

Berkeley is usually regarded as more prestigious because of the research and the top ranked programs (if you look at it closely, most if not all of Berkeley's majors are ranked better than ucla and usc), but some people may think ucla is better, or even usc.
UC Berkeley and all the 8 Ivy League-member schools made it to the top 100 in US News ranking. For undergraduate education (except engineering and CS), Berkeley's reputation index is about as regarded as, or similar to, Cornell. But Cornell is largely viewed as the least prestigious Ivy school.
UC Berkeley is considered the best public university in the country. It's high rank and student life make it an ideal academic institution; that is, if you're willing to work for it. It is unfortunately getting more difficult for high school students to get accepted into UC schools, including UC Berkeley.

The best thing about the University of California Berkeley is the vast ethnic, racial, religious, cultural, socio-economic, political (etc.) diversity across the campus. UC Berkeley is one the most accepting and least discriminating universities in the entire world.
As with most cities, there are bad parts of town along with the good. When it comes to Berkeley, however, it is particularly wise to avoid certain areas at night. And while historically South Berkeley has been considered a dangerous area, recent years have seen it clean up considerably.
Berkeley does not have a medical school, but the university offers the UC Berkeley – UCSF Joint Medical Program with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), a standalone medical school that is also part of the University of California.
Lies across the bay from San Francisco, and includes Contra Costa and Alameda Counties. Oakland is the most populous city in the East Bay. Berkeley, Concord and Fremont are also destinations. Stretches south down from San Francisco across San Mateo County and into the northern parts of Santa Clara County.

It is harder to admit to UCLA than UC Berkeley. UC Berkeley has higher submitted ACT score (94) than UCLA (94). UCLA has more students with 44,537 students while UC Berkeley has 42,501 students. UCLA has more full-time faculties with 3,675 faculties while UC Berkeley has 1,754 full-time faculties.
And while Berkeley retains academic prestige, UCLA has more students, is better at sports (117 NCAA team championships and counting), and offers more academic options, including a world-class medical center. My own UCLA-vs. -Berkeley loyalties are conflicted.
