When we set out to create Ashen we wanted the game to not only to be satisfying and fun, but to have a deep and compelling story that pulls players through the game.
What is the main goal in Dark Souls? In Demon's, the goal was to kill all the archdemons and then kill King Allant.
It's not an open world like a Red Dead game, but more reminiscent of an old Zelda game with different parts of the map opening up as you progress further into the game. Or search the Internet for dungeon maps, if you're not into rote exploration. Praise the Sun for Dark Souls and BloodBorne!
Here's exactly what to do in-game.
- Open the pause menu and go to System -> Multiplayer.
- Set a Multiplayer Filter Code. This is a six-digit number you'll have to create yourself.
- Share the Multiplayer Filter Code you set with your friend. You can do this via Party or Messenger.
The story of bloodborne is the one of your hunter and his path through the game. The rest is setting/lore/backstory. Video game videos, to the surprise of no one.
For those playing Ashen, upon beating the third boss in the story, Amiren, they'll be able to access a harder difficulty, called "Children of Sissna." Since players are not required to complete the game in full on standard difficulty first in order to unlock hard mode, there is no new game plus feature included, but
Derek: There is no PVP in Ashen, but making sure you can rely on the people you meet out in the world is very important. The wrong people can easily lead you into very dangerous situations.

Dark Souls is a good game for many reasons. It has remarkable level design. It pulls no punches in combat, and rewards players who want to learn each enemy. It's never unfair, even though it's very hard.
Requirements
- The host must be in human form, which is achieved when the player uses the option to reverse-hollow at a bonfire.
- The area boss must still be alive for the host.
- The phantoms must cast their sign using the white sign soapstone.
- The players must be within a certain level range of each other.
Is Dark Souls a dungeon crawler? Nope. Bloodborne is the closest Fromsoft have ever gotten to that kind of gameplay. Dark Souls DOES have dungeons, and you do explore (though enemies do most of the actual crawling) through them, but IMO “dungeon crawler” isn't a fair term.

Ashen is now available for download. The Xbox console exclusive is a part of Game Pass, so members can download the indie title for free.
Playing Dark Souls 3 with a friend in co-op is one of the game's lesser-used features. However, unlike many modern games, this process is a lot less seamless and straightforward here. The idea is that you only start a co-op session (called summoning) when you really need the help.
The game will allow players to enter the settings and turn multiplayer off entirely. Even though the game is built around a multiplayer focus, the developers have added ”Lone Wolf” perks that will give solo players a helping hand. The perks can assist in situations where having a partner would otherwise be mandatory.
