Barn cats can kill full-grown rabbits and have little trouble killing a naïve ferret – even house cats can easily kill a kit. However, cats and ferrets cohabit well when brought up together. Never assume that any adult cat will not harm a ferret if it has never seen one before.
During play, a ferret might jump on the back of another ferret, grab its nape and shake it until the ferret is dragged off. Ferrets of any age might nip at people for other reasons, as well. Ferrets are related to weasels, not other common mammalian house pets like gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, and mice (species that can often cause allergic reactions). They don't give off dander, so a ferret may make a good choice for someone suffering from allergies.

Ferrets are energetic, social animals that require a great deal of play and interaction. At a minimum, ferrets need 2 to 4 hours every day outside their cage to remain healthy. Leave the door of the cage open so that the ferret has access to food, water, and the litter box.

- human-grade raw meaty bones each week. These will help keep his teeth clean and provide behavioural enrichment. Talk to your veterinarian first.
Ferrets are strict carnivores. In the wild they prey upon and eat whole animals that consist of raw meat, raw bones, other tissue and digested vegetable matter. They require a diet of meat/animal products that are typically high in protein and fat and low in carbohydrates and fibre.
