The Australian cinema industry is one of the largest in the world. In 2019, it was the 11th largest in terms of revenue, generating around nine hundred million U.S. dollars in box office revenue and around 2.5 billion U.S. dollars from the wider filmed entertainment industry.
The cinema of Australia had its beginnings with the 1906 production of The Story of the Kelly Gang, the earliest feature film ever made. Since then, Australian crews have produced many films, a number of which have received international recognition.

The 34-foot-wide screens are a little smaller than the standard cinema screen, which is about 45 to 65 feet wide and as tall as 30 feet. (IMAX screens are even bigger, at 72 feet wide and as high as 98 feet tall.) But it's supposed to have a better picture.
