In order to quickly receive a GPS fix, your device needs to have the latest software installed. Connect to TomTom HOME or MyDrive Connect and download any software and QuickGPSfix updates. In some cases, if the software on your navigation device is not working as expected, you may need to reset the device.
Can I change the battery? No, the battery in your navigation device cannot be changed. We recommend that you first attempt to charge your device for a minimum of 2 hours and then attempt to reset your device. If you have a problem with the battery, please contact TomTom customer support.
Devices no longer supported:
A device will have reached the end of its useful life when that device or app is incompatible with TomTom service and software updates, content, and accessories.To reset your device, switch off the car engine and then remove the memory card. Re-insert the memory card, wait 30 seconds and switch the car engine on again. The reset button is on the bottom of your TomTom device.

Updating without a direct computer connection
The classic map-on-a-screen GPS devices for cars and trucks typically update through a USB connection to your computer, but newer models such as the DriveSmart 51, and many of Garmin's sports-oriented devices for non-driving use, offer Wi-Fi connectivity as an option.It begins with this post: I have a TomTom XL and have map updates. - Open and remove the battery cover by sliding the battery cover lock and pulling off the battery cover.
- Remove the battery by sliding the battery out of the battery cavity.
- Put the new battery in by sliding it into the battery compartment.
